Can you view your website on a mobile phone

smartphoneThe Internet and communications worldwide are forever changing, and now more and more people are accessing the Internet (and therefore websites) via their smart phones. Even standard mobile phones can access websites, so if you have a graphically intensive website, it may be more difficult to display on a phone.

According to my stats, about 4% of my visits in the last 10 months to this website (That is when I put the mobile option on) have used their mobile phones to access my pages  (16982 desktop visits and 879 mobile visits), so while that percentage may seem small it is growing, and if taken more seriously those 4% may alll be looking for work and not just random tyre kickers!

What does this mean for you – well think about your product or service, your target market and whether they are likely to be using a mobile phone to connect to your website e.g. 30-40 something Mums seem to all have these phones, so if you are selling to them, you better put mobile on your “to do” list. If you aren’t sure contact me to discuss it.

Snooks Bed & Breakfast

Snooks Dunedin Bed & Breakfast AccommodationThe Snooks B&B website was built for Trevor and Kerri Bolt’s new bed and breakfast accommodation in Maori Hill, Dunedin, NZ and has now gone live to the world in time for the official opening in a fortnight.

The website has been designed with a clean modern look, can be self-managed and has been future-proofed so that it is easy to add an online secure booking system if/or when this may be needed. The website also makes use of RSS feeds to have up to date Dunedin events automatically displayed, as well as displaying all the normal pages one would expect from an accommodation website i.e. rooms, tariffs, local activities, how to find us, Google maps and booking forms.

The website showcases the many ways farmers can improve their electrical systems in their dairy sheds, in removing effluent, and importantly the various backup systems that will all help the farmers ROI.

Jonell’s Florist – Oamaru

Jonells Florist OamaruToday the new e-commerce website for Jonell’s Florist in Oamaru went live at www.jonellsflorist.co.nz.

While Jonell had an existing website, it was quite old and as does not even show on the first page of Google for its own name was probably not bringing much business her way. The new website is therefore quite a step up with online shopping available 24/7, a cool automated reminder service for customers, and ideally an easy to navigate website that is also aesthetically pleasing.

While the SEO of the website will not show much change overnight in the SERPs, I would expect it to not be too long until it is at least competitive in the Oamaru and North Otago searches.
